Yes, Puffer Coats Can Look Elevated—24 That Get This Fashion Editor's Approval

Annabel Rosendahl wearing Acne Studio puffer jacket.

I feel like this is a safe place to admit I've never owned a puffer jacket. Considering I live in the UK, where it's cold for more months than it is remotely warm, this seems crazy, right? There's a few reasons why I've swerved puffers year after year (even though I'm perpetually cold). The first reason being I've found a lot of them, well, ugly. And the second main reason being every time I've tried them on they seem to swamp my 5'4" frame. The thing is, though, with more and more brands creating iterations, there are so many more lengths in puffer, quilted or padded styles to choose from. Making it better for us women on the more petite side.

So this year, I've decided it's time to invest in a coat that'll makes me feel like I'm swaddled up in my much-loved duvet. While I love the Arket puffer everyone wore last year, it's the designer versions that have caught my eye this year. If it isn't the quilted version from the new Ganni x Barbour collaboration, it's the new contrast Totême style. Add to this a sprinkling of Jil Sander, Prada and Gucci and I think I've found the best (measured on a scale of coziness and aesthetics) puffer coats around. While they'll always be more of an investment buy thanks to their specialist thermal qualities, I've found styles to suit different budgets.
