7 Major Autumn Fashion Trends You Can Shop Now At Zara

As high street devotees will know all too well, Zara is often the first affordable store to showcase some of the biggest runway trends each season. A quick scroll through the new-in section reads like a who's who of predicted bestsellers and savvy investments buys, and type anything into the website’s search bar and you can expect to find plenty of affordable options in the category for you to peruse. As the turnaround from sketches to shopfloor is so quick, it’s no surprise that you can already shop some of autumn/winter 2023’s major trends right now, and should you be the kind of shopper who likes to stay ahead of the crowd, you're going to want to keep scrolling to see some of the trends, colours and key pieces that are about to be everywhere this autumn. 

Style Notes: Prepare to bare this autumn as the strapless neckline is this season's breakout trend. Forget the boob tubes of the Noughties, this time around the runways showed sleek maxi dresses, tailored corsets and draped tops. However you choose to wear it, the bandeau is back, for those who didn't buy into last AW's micro mini skirt, 2023 is about the décolletage. 

Style Notes: It's been a busy few years for denim. Just when we'd traded in our skinnies for straight leg jeans, the low-slung, baggy jean and denim maxi skirt returned, but now the focus is on well-worn, distressed washes. Any denim that looks like it's been through the ringer is the look du jour, so keep an eye out for raw hems, bleaching, stone washing and interesting colours to channel this lived-in look. 

Style Notes: Leather comes back around every autumn/winter, but now it's time to bring a little rock and roll attitude to your wardrobe. Last year we might have loved polished dresses and knee-high boots, but Zara has nailed the AW23 runway look of "good girl gone biker" with chunky boots, oversized jackets and plenty of silver hardware.

Style Notes: As soon as the temperatures shift we automatically reach for our cosiest coats, and the maxi coat is a practical trend that we can wholeheartedly get behind. Sweeping trenches, boxy wool coats, and lightweight dusters are everywhere right now, and are the perfect transitional layer to take us into autumn and winter. 

Style Notes: Expect to see fifty shades of grey for the rest of the year, as this once considered "stuffy" colour is set to be bigger than Barbie pink and hot red. It makes sense after all, grey lends itself well to coats, knits, and tailoring (aka everything we want to wear in autumn), and it's already made it's way onto the high street in a very big way. 

Style Notes: We couldn't end the year without a bang, and metallics are back and bigger than ever, just in time for party season in a few months time. Count to Christmas in clothing and accessories dipped in liquid silver for what is undoubtedly the most headturning trend of the season. (Just wait for Zara's silver jeans to go TikTok viral). 

Style Notes: One trend to bookmark for winter is the re-emergence of cosy shearling. Teddy coats, gilets and even ballet flats now come in this cuddly fabric, and Zara's bestselling shearling lined aviator jackets are now back in stock and well worth buying early before they sell out for a second year.
