8 Anti-Trend Outfits to Wear Throughout June That Are Easy and Chic
It's officially summer. June has arrived, and now is the time to transition yourselves from a semi-sunny wardrobe to a full-blown heatwave (wishful thinking?) one. With the inclement weather we've been having lately starting to subside, you can finally start to leave jackets, umbrellas and any extra layers at home. The forecast is sunny times ahead.
All those warm-weather Instagram shots that had you craving days of endless sunshine are now a reality. But as with any season, the simplest way to do everyday chic is to have a trusty roster of staples that can be mixed and matched accordingly. The only decision to make is figuring out what your summer signature will be this year.
From the jersey basic every wardrobe should have to the new-season skirt that's taking over my social media feed, I've assembled a total of eight outfits that perfectly fit the "what to wear in June" bill, each of which will still feel stylish next June and the June after that. See them below, and should you need any pieces to re-create these foolproof looks, I've shopped out lookalikes for you along the way. Enjoy.
1. Relaxed Shirt + Wide-Leg Trousers

@_livmadelineStyle Notes: One of my favourite things about this time of year is being able to leave the house sans coat or jacket. However, as someone who readily feels the chill, I'll be easing myself into June with a long-sleeve shirt. I love how Liv has left hers untucked from her loose trousers, adding to her relaxed aesthetic.
Boden's trousers are proving popular in fashion circles right now.
2. Strapless Dress + Strappy Sandals

@thandimaqStyle Notes: Okay, I know I said these looks were anti-trend, and I stand by that. I feel like this dress will still feel pretty classic in a few years' time, but there's no denying that simple bandeau dresses (particularly denim ones) are having a moment. Wear with flat sandals for a cool take.
Silver jewellery isn't going anywhere this season.
I expect to see these new-in sandals all over Instagram in a matter of days.
3. Tank Top + Column Skirt

@michellelin.linStyle Notes: Skirts are key this season, with just about any typing being represented on social media right now. My favourites are elegant column-shape skirts, which look effortless when worn with jersey tops and basket bags.
4. White Blouse + Jeans

@marina_torresStyle Notes: Is there any summer outfit combination that's more reliable than blue jeans and a white blouse? If you ask me, this is the easiest thing you can wear in June.
This looks as if you could have picked it up in a vintage store in Paris.
According to TikTok, the fit of these jeans is supposed to be spectacular.
5. Linen Shirt + Linen Shorts

@emmarosestyleStyle Notes: What's better than a linen item? An outfit full of linen items! Emma offsets her shorts with a long-sleeve white shirt for a look that's undisputedly chic but also breezy enough for balmy June days.
I'm into the more delicate take on fisherman sandals we're seeing this season.
6. Maxi Dress + Raffia Bag

@lois_la_modeStyle Notes: Maxi hemlines are still very much a thing this season; if you've invested in a block-colour dress, rest assured it'll stand you in good stead for years to come. Just add a raffia bag and no-fuss sandals.
The detailing on this bodice is beautiful.
If it's simple sandals you're after, Ancient Greek Sandals is the answer.
7. T-Shirt + Slip Skirt

@chiarasatelierStyle Notes: Obviously, we're talking about what to wear in June, but black and white are a colour pairing that looks incredibly sleek year-round. For the month ahead, you can bet I'll be re-creating Chiara's simple skirt-and-tee ensemble.
I own this & Other Stories slip skirt already and get so much wear out of it.
The bag brand everyone's carrying this summer.
8. Breton-Stripe Top + Linen Trousers

@deborabrosaStyle Notes: While I can't transport you to a luxury yacht, I can guide you to an outfit that would look just as good on one as it will on the streets of where you live. Cue Debora's Breton top, white linen trousers and bucket hat. Sun protection isn't something to forget about, even on home soil.
I've just bought these for my holiday this month—I'll report back on the fit.
