WHO WHAT WEAR UKIt's that time when we revert to early 2024 predictions and slowly start to see the styles lauded on the catwalk permeate the ready-to-wear market. In the past few years, skirts have been shining bright (in colourways too) and unlike very specific styles of the past (I'm looking at you micro mini), many skirt styles are being championed for the coming months—from risqué peek-a-boo iterations to free-flowing maxis.
I've re-observed the skirt trends we first witnessed on runways in London, Milan, New York and Paris and four particular styles feel the most prominent and compelling. That is, transparent skirts with a '90s lilt, bright white, skirts incorporating tassel elements and of course, leather—a failproof winter hero. It's jumper season and if you're feeling uninspired why not enlist one of these bold styles to elevate your knitwear? Keep reading to discover four skirt trends for 2024 that you'll be seeing land on your favourite e-commerce sites shortly (if not already). There's something for everyone—from the minimalist to the party-goer.

1. Transparent Skirts

@abimarvelStyle Notes: We saw the revival of see-through styles back in 2022 from the likes of Schiaparelli, Khaite and Rejina Pyo and this style has continued to prove its longevity. It's the fashion hero that celebrates the form. What a better and more empowering way to step into 2024. Here, Abi demonstrates a way you can style the trend for the evening.
2. Fringed Skirts

@astyleeditStyle Notes: Call it the revival of the flapper skirt, albeit with an elongated length. 2024 will see a slew of mid to maxi length skirts with frayed and tasselled ends. You may have already seen this style weave its way amongst partywear because of its inherent exuberance.

@daniellejinaduStyle Notes: You may say that the leather skirt has been resurrected, but the truth is, it never left. Instead, leather skirting coasts on the sidelines waiting for its prime time, come winter. It's the seasonal and trend-led piece that comes back each autumn-winter season, making it the perfect investment piece.
4. White Skirts

@sylviemus_Style Notes: Sylvie is ahead of the trends here with an on-the-knee white skirt. In the coming seasons, all forms of white skirts will be celebrated—from minis to maxi lengths.
