But we don't speak enough about the most dependable item of all, the humble white tee. 

White t-shirts are undoubtedly one of the most crucial pieces a person's wardrobe can contain. It may sound dramatic, but considering its easy pairing with jeans, skirts, trousers, leggings, shorts, loungewear and useful layering qualities, I don't feel it's an overstatement. With so many styling options, once you have the perfect white tee you'll always have something to wear. However, not all white t-shirts are created equal. When compiling your staple pieces, its important that the fit and quality is to your liking. But spending more doesn't always equal better quality, and with the tendency of white to be too see-through, it can feel like a feat to find the one.  With that in mind, we're collectively divulging what our favourite non-see-though white T-shirts are, starting at just £6.

"You might think that Selected's decision to name this t-shirt 'my perfect tee' was a bold one, but I happen to agree—from the relaxed cut that still, somehow, defines by shape, to the length of the sleeves and soft cotton fabrication, this is the t-shirt I reach for when I want to look put together and elevated, even in my oldest jeans. I wear most of my t-shirts with nude t-shirt bra and there's zero casting or outline, making for a very seamless finish."

"Like most people, I'm a huge fan of H&M's elevated basics and so I have a selection of their classic cotton t-shirts in an array of colours (black and white are of course my go-tos) and sizes (I like to go up a size when i'm wearing my t-shirts with a jacket or blazer and get my usual size when I know I'm wearing it as a layering piece under knits) which take pride of place in my wardrobe from spring and well into winter. Crafted in a soft cotton jersey with a round neckline and gently dropped shoulders, they're just perfection. Plus, they're affordable, too. What's not to love?"

"I'm a long-time fan of Arket's crew neck T-shirts, I buy them again and again each season to freshen up my wardrobe. Top tip, take a size up for the perfect relaxed fit. I have to admit, however, I recently tried this version on from COS for research purposes and I was so impressed by how thick and premium the fabric feels.
