I'm a Fashion Editor, and This Trending Skirt Just Levelled Up My Outfits
This is probably a really niche reference, but ever since Prada’s S/S 09 collection, I’ve been obsessed with pieces that come in purposefully crinkled fabrics. Miuccia Prada is the don when it comes to making things that are off-kilter feel cool (just look at the impossibly chic frazzled-woman concept for Miu Miu this coming autumn), and when she sent summery crinkled cotton down the runway in cream, black and snake print, finished off with thigh slits here and shoulder bows there (to keep things fastened), it became a season that stuck in my mind.
So when Ninety Percent released this crinkled wrap skirt, I couldn’t help but snap it up right away. With its neutral colour and demure cut, it pretty much works with everything in my wardrobe. What’s more is that it can be surprisingly versatile at different times of the year. To prove my point, here are five looks that span chilly days through to holiday ones.

For reference, I am a size 12 and wear a medium. It is very roomy around the bottom and thighs but more fitted on the waist, so that is something to bear in mind depending on how skirts of this shape usually fit you.
1. Add Structure With Tailoring

@hannahalmassi for WHO WHAT WEAR UKA plain midi or maxi skirt only needs a blazer to make it suddenly much more work-appropriate. I like the idea of playing into those quiet-luxury neutrals to allow the texture of the skirt to stand out.

Fashion people remain loyal to Castañer espadrilles.
2. Combine Your Seasons

@hannahalmassi for WHO WHAT WEAR UKI like combining clothes that seem to be out of sync with each other, so a wintry jumper with a high-summer skirt is right up my street. This would be great for those days when the weather can’t make up its mind.

These earrings are the ideal way to add interest to any look.
I'm wearing my old but beloved L’Autre Chose boots, but this pair from Dear Frances will give a similar vibe.
3. Try a Classic Palette

@hannahalmassi for WHO WHAT WEAR UKWhenever I’m in doubt about what to wear, I’ll dip into the classics. The combination of a Breton top and tan accessories would work with just about any bottom half you could imagine.

Dragon Diffusion bags aren’t new but they’re having a serious moment right now.
Wedges are back, and I’m obsessed with the retro vibes of this pair.
4. Make It Work Overtime
Photo:
@hannahalmassi for WHO WHAT WEAR UKIt’d be a no-brainer to pack this crinkled skirt into a suitcase for my next holiday—no need for a steamer! This would make for a handy beach-to-sightseeing item paired with a shirt for a cover-up over a bikini.

There’s a reason celebrities continue to wear Melissa Odabash designs with each passing season—they’re simply iconic.
5. Embrace Different Layers and Lengths

My tee might be American Apparel (the best T-shirts ever), but this Arket style is incredibly popular amongst our editor group.
What I love most about DuoBoots is that you’re able to tailor the calf width of its knee-high silhouettes.
