I Asked My Colleagues What I Should Buy With £100—Here's What They Suggested
Working as a fashion editor has its advantages. Day in and day out, we meticulously examine collections and scour the internet in search of noteworthy items that we can't wait to share with you. If you're a regular Who What Wear UK reader, you're already aware that we strive to feature a diverse range of prices and brands. This includes popular selections from the high street that have captivated our fellow fashion editors and influencers, investment-worthy purchases that truly justify your hard-earned cash, and hidden gems from independent brands that deserve recognition.
It's through our combined years spent exploring the shopping space that we're able to determine what's going to work hard in a wardrobe and what's going to end up simply taking up space. Given the current landscape, where everyone's budgets are carefully considered, we need to be more thorough than ever, not just in finding pieces we think will be of value to you, but in being more discerning about the items we actually want to buy for ourselves, too. As such, our on-site edits have become tighter—and so have our personal shopping wish lists.
So, as we embark on the autumn season (and I look to treat myself with some of my payday earnings), I decided to ask our in-house style experts to narrow down their wish lists to just a couple of items that they have their eye on right now, with the caveat that each item has to be £100 or under. Interest piqued? Scroll on to see our editors' respective affordable shopping picks. Enjoy!

@hannahalmassi“I've been searching for the perfect denim shirt so I can do a clean double denim look for autumn, and I think I just found it! This one is just the right shade of blue and totally unfussy in its finish which is precisely what I was after.”
“As a big fan of the knitted co-ord, this expensive-looking H&M turtleneck-and-skirt combination is really speaking to me. Excellent with some dark-brown knee boots.”
“Flat shoes never really get my pulse racing, but these simple, comfy-looking ballet pumps from Massimo Dutti could be changing my outlook.”

@remyfarrell“It's simple, but effective. This knit dress with a waist belt and knee-high boot is the kind of expensive-looking outfit that gives the impression that you spent ages getting ready (even if it took five minutes). Perfect under a trench or heavy wool coat.”
“If you haven't been on TikTok lately, you'll have missed the social media frenzy around the Melie Bianco bag from Anthropologie. We've been obsessed with this bag since it first landed, and every time there is a new size or colour way, it goes straight to the top of my wishlist. Next up, the hot red mini.”
“Autumn is steadily becoming my favourite season, largely due to luxurious pieces like this wool knit. Sure, summer has pretty dresses and sunbathing, but you won't get cosier, or chicer, than this cute jumper tucked into a wide-leg trouser. It's the kind of transitional layer that you'll be wearing into next spring too.”

@rebeccarhysevans“Anyone who knows me will tell you I have a penchant for anything Western. Cowboy boots, fringe suede jackets? Yes please. The denim shirt is another trending item that loosely fits into this category, which is probably why I love it so much. But to much surprise, I won't be styling it with a cowboy hat and/or chaps—instead I'll be doing the unthinkable and donning double denim by wearing them with jeans. Join me if you dare!”
“I've always been all about black leather (with footwear, accessories etc.), but this season I can't get enough of dark earthy tones like chocolate brown and olive green. The shape of this shoulder bag is so timeless.”

@poppynash“The wide sleeves of this Zara knit make it look so much more expensive than it is. It is 99% wool too, which means it should be really warm and perfect for when the winter chill sets in.”
“I've recently seen Arket's CLOUD jeans all over my Instagram, and am now desperate to try a pair. I'm hoping I'll love the fit and invest in the white, which I'll wear with cosy knitwear and trainers, and the black, which I'll dress up with heels and a blazer.”
“How pretty is this white blouse?! I struggle with autumn/winter dressing and so end up relying on nice tops, jeans and heeled boots in the colder months. This is one I know I will get great wear out of; I just love the sleeves and statement collar!”

@joy.ejaria“No matter the season, I’ll always be seen wearing a pair of wide-leg trousers. I find them very versatile—I can dress up with heels or down with trendy trainers and will always look elevated. I recently got the viral Uniqlo pair in a longer length 10/10 I would recommend. I can’t wait to get the other colours.”
“We’re officially in closed-toe shoe season and my Birkenstock clogs are the only shoe I’ve been reaching for. The taupe suede is super popular and great to style but I think the black leather is much more practical so as soon as payday comes by, I’ll be getting a pair.”
