8 Fresh Boot Trends That Are Already Dominating This Autumn
I can't stop thinking about where my next pumpkin spice latte is coming from and my camera reel is now full of photos of my dogs in the fallen leaves; it's finally autumn and, if it wasn't painstakingly clear, I am pretty excited about it. Especially as that also means it's time to start thinking about boots. I love boots, they're by far my favourite footwear option, and, if you're looking to treat yourself to a new pair this season just as I am, there are lots of chic styles to consider. Today, I'm going to guide you through them, autumn's boot trends for 2023.

@sandrashehabBoot trends tend to stick around longer than those of other shoes (personally I find trainers to be the most flippant). So, rest assured, any boot you do decide to 1) wear and 2) invest in will feel current for a while. Still, if you want to know which boots feel especially trendy this season, I've assembled them for you below. There are eight all in, heels and flats, some that are led by aesthetics and others practicality, but all are deserving of a place here, in my boot trends for autumn 2023 round up.
Scroll on to see them and get ready to embrace the new season.
1. Pointed-Toe Boots

@iliridakrasniqiStyle Notes: Channel your inner '90s fashion icon with these sleek and edgy black pointed toe boots. They're a timeless statement piece that adds a throwback (and sexy!) touch to any outfit.
2. Moto Boots

@mayadegraeveStyle Notes: Unleash your inner rebel with moto boots, perhaps the most prevalent footwear trend on the autumn/winter runways, though the best example was shown at Miu Miu. They subscribe perfectly to TikTok's "wrong shoe theory", with fashion types choosing to wear them with skirts and dresses for a tough edge.
3. Mock-Croc Boots
Photo:
@dawn.tanStyle Notes: Mock-croc finishes always look so high end, and we're seeing a new-found appreciation for this treatment on shoes this season; specifically boots. Look for a knee-high pair to add gloss to skirt and dress looks, or choose an ankle grazer to slip on with jeans.
4. Cowboy Boots
Photo:
@meganadelaideStyle Notes: Cowboy boots have long been a fashion-girl favourite, and the proof is in the latest influx of autumn outfits that have been uploaded to Instagram. Look for classic colours such as beige and black or stand out from the crowd in a colour-block pair.
5. Over-the-Knee Boots

@giasinatraStyle Notes: Over the knee boots dominated the runways this season, and we're starting to see that influence trickle down into IRL looks. Wear yours with mini skirts or thigh-split dresses to show them off to full effect.
6. Chelsea Boots

@aniyahmoriniaStyle Notes: Classic Chelsea boots are going to be big again this season. Endlessly versatile and practical, these boots are the go-to footwear choice for the modern urbanite. Opt for black for a traditional take or look for different colours or finishes to add personality.
7. Patent Boots
Photo:
@raeannlangasStyle Notes: It's been a while since we've seen patent shoes take centre stage but thanks to an obsession with all-things '90s this season, high shine is back. Seen at Saint Laurent and Prada in boot form, this is a trend I expect to see everywhere this season.
8. Riding Boots

@daniellejinaduStyle Notes: If flat boots are more your thing, rest assured I'm rounding off my edit with another practical pair. With their typically simple silhouette, riding boots present a sleek alternative to cowboy boots, which is sure to appease even the purest of minimalists.
