These 8 Accessory Trends Will Be Major This Year—Commit Them to Memory
No wardrobe, no matter how chic, is complete without accessories. These finishing touches add that je ne sais quoi to an outfit; simply put, bags and shoes hold transformative power, and no one will convince me otherwise.
As an accessories aficionado myself, I've been keeping my eyes peeled for new trends to adopt in 2024. While black boots and a simple crossbody bag serve me day-to-day, I can't resist giving in to some of the bolder designs that surface each season. Most recently, it was a pair of sage-green Adidas sambas and a COS quilted handbag that had me breaking free of my minimalist habits and handing over my debit card. With the new year just around the corner—and a long list of fresh trends in tow—I have a feeling I'll find space for a few more accessories in the coming months.
To get ahead of my spending and give myself time to evaluate which accessories will actually work in my wardrobe (no impulse buys here), I've created a list of eight styles I predict will be big in 2024. If you're also addicted to outfit add-ons, take a look at the trends below. From waist-cinching belts to elevated flats, I have a feeling you'll be just as tempted as I am.
1. Textured Bags

The Style Stalker For Who What WearStyle Notes: Cosiness has taken on new forms for 2024. Love them or hate them, shearling bags (and other textured finishes) are about to be slung over the arms of all the coolest fashion insiders.
When Gucci embraces a trend, you know it's a good one.
2. Wide Belts

The Style Stalker For Who What WearStyle Notes: A clear message emerged from September's fashion weeks—the wider the belt, the better. But waist-cinchers big and small are getting a look in this season, particularly teamed with blazers to create an hourglass shape.
You could also use this to pull in an A-line dress.
3. Red Accents

The unique quilted finish of this bag is exquisite.
These might just be the sweetest ballet flats I've seen.
4. Silver Jewellery

This thick chain will make all your outfits feel edgier.
5. Thigh-High Boots

The cleated sole makes these even better.
6. XXL Totes

The Style Stalker For Who What WearStyle Notes: We're all leading busy lives, which explains why supersized totes are widely favoured over micro purses this season—what's better than a bag with room to fit all your essentials? A bag with room to fit all your essentials and more. Your new Mary Poppins carry-all awaits.
Naturally, Bottega Veneta has nailed this trend.
7. Tinted Sunnies

Catwalks and fashion month street style tell us that tinted shades will be the dominant trend this year.
A subtle tint that nods to the trend in an understated way.
8. Pointed Flats

These will look so good peeking out from the bottom of tailored trousers.
Metallics are also sticking around for 2024, so these tick two boxes.
